In conversation with my 2-year-old yesterday morning, at the breakfast table:
Me: "Good morning, Sun! Thank you, God, for the Sun!"
J: "Thank you God, for the trees!"
Me: "Thank you God, for the flowers!"
J: "Thank you God, for Mommy!"
Me: speechless
does it get much better than that? J - you are so precious! I thank God every single day for you, and for your brother.
In 'conversation' with W, my 7.5 month old, today following a nursing session after a nap:
Me: "Say Mamamamamama, mama, mamamama"
W: "dadadadadada..."
Me: "Say Mama, mamamama..."
W: "Eeeeeeeeee!"
Me: "Say mamamamamama!"
W: wrinkles nose, and laughs at me
W continues to sleep well at night. Last night he was up at 4 AM, and wouldn't settle until he ate. Back to bed at 4:30 AM, and up again to start the day at 7 AM. Still, no complaints from me!
My BIL (Husband's brother) is headed to Iraq next week. Next week. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that he will be doing helicopter missions & dangerous convoys. And there is no greater man I can think of to go and serve his country, and fellow people of the world. He is simply amazing a his job. But I ask for you to keep him in your prayers - for a safe return home to his family, where he belongs. Likewise, pray for his family (his parents, his brothers, wife, daughters, nieces & nephews, and the rest of us in-laws alike) - we are all having a difficult time figuring out what this "new normal" is supposed to be like without Uncle J.
Tonight we will go and celebrate as a family one last time while he is home on leave (between training and deployment).
At least we will have the Olympics (gymastics in particular, yay!) to distract us for a short while.
Stay tuned...more musings to come!
